South Wairarapa Runners: April event: Kiriwhakapapa

Farther north than usual for this month’s run. We’ll start at 9.00 a.m. at the cooking shelter at Kiriwhakapapa campsite. Keep heading up Highway 2 until you come to the signpost.
The campsite is a bit more than 20 minutes of driving from the centre of Masterton.
The trail goes on for a bit but is well-marked and maintained throughout.
We’ll head out and then turn around whenever everyone feels like it’s time to turn around. If you go all the way from Kiriwhakapapa to Mikimiki and back again, it’s about 14 km. If you turn around at the highest point, it’s about half that. This is a time-consuming trek, so bring appropriate nutrition.
We’ll follow up with a cafe stop on the way home. One suggestion is Don Luciano cnr King and Chapel streets.
Bring a dog (or two) if you like (and have more than one). The Loop Track is a good option for walkers as well.
Carpooling greatly encouraged.
